President David Fleming calls Smiley “exactly what Providence needs.”


Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) Local 328 announced its endorsement of Brett Smiley for Mayor of Providence. UFCW Local 328 represents over 12,000 members in a wide range of industries including health care, meatpacking, poultry and food processing, manufacturing, distillery, winery, textile and chemical trades, and retail food.

UFCW Local 328 President David Fleming commented, “Brett Smiley is exactly what Providence needs in its next mayor, and we’re proud to emphatically endorse his candidacy. Brett has the vision and courage to tackle tough challenges and make the changes working families in Providence need, and he’ll run a City Hall where integrity and transparency are placed in the highest regard. We need a leader with the skills and substance to grow Providence’s economy and create jobs across the city, and that’s the type of mayor we know Brett Smiley will be.”
