Today, Rep. Raymond Hull joined Brett Smiley at Hull’s home on Mount Pleasant Avenue to announce his endorsement of the Smiley for Mayor campaign. Hull will co-chair the Smiley campaign alongside Myrth York, former State Senator and Democratic nominee for governor, and Christine West, Chair of the Providence City Plan Commission.
Rep. Hull commented, “I know Providence inside and out, and Brett Smiley is the right man to lead our city. I grew up in Providence as one of 13 children who went through the public school system, and I went on to serve 28 years in the Providence Police Department. Brett’s the only candidate with a bold plan to make our city safer, add more officers to the police force and get illegal guns off our streets. He’s the only candidate with a detailed plan to improve the quality of public education. And the values he expresses in these plans are the same values I fight for as a police officer, they’re the same values I fight for in the State House, and they’re exactly the values we need in our next mayor.”
Brett Smiley added, “Representative Hull has been a leader in our community for decades, and I’m thrilled to bring him on board as a co-chair of my campaign. As a member of the Providence Police Department and a State Representative, Hull has stood up for the people of our city every day of his career. The wealth of knowledge and experience he brings to my campaign team, particularly in the area of public safety, will be invaluable moving forward. I’m proud to have Rep. Hull’s support as I continue fighting for safer streets, stronger schools and a more prosperous economy.”
